Default Replace Quiting Players...

if it would be possible...could you maybe have it so a player is replaced by an NPC/Henchmen in any mission...not just the tournament/pvp ones

also maybe have it so if they leave the hench that is replaced, will have all the same skills etc. as the person who left, so it is like they are still here

Yeah I agree, sometimes you're almost done with a mission and everyone starts leaving which forces you to start all over. Or what if something comes up and you have to be the one to leave?
If they added something like a menu screen that people can sign up to be on stand-by for a mission and then have the option to accept or not when they're called that would really great. (Kind of a rough idea)

Yea, they should replace a person with a hench if they leave, I remember playing HoH agansit 6 teams and we only had 2 players left alive and 2 people left (the monks) but we got away and got them fighting with another team then went back and rez our entire team, except the 2 people that left .We lost in the end probibly because we were short 2 players but oh well.

I think the best thing to do is allowing players to rejoin if accidentally disconnected (connection lost from provider) and after a timeout, replace them with a henchman. It happens very often that while I'm in a mission or pvp tournament, me or any other player in team lose the connection and is forced to start again... this is very frustrating!

But then people will start abusing whereas you have a lvl 10 guy doing some yaks bend mission, he gets 5 of his lvl 20 buddies and all they need to do is join and leave, and you got a instant run. People might do this for money and you know how arenanet is about quick cash... Too easily abused, it's a good idea but too hard to find a counter to balance it out.

can you please explain what's so different to just standing at the start and never move or rush to the first enemy to get killed?

If there are people carrying you trough a mission, there is no way to stop this. Because you can die and let the lvl20 finish the mission or you can stand and watch or you can follow them in a secure distance... And with this feature you would get 1 option more. Seems not like a big deal to me.

But for normal groups that would be a great feature.

Or do I miss an abusable point?

It works but I hope they tweak it so that the replacement henchman has the same primary profession of the quitter/LD player

Agreed, it would make more sense if a monk dropper/quiter is replaced by a healer or protection monk henchmen for example.

thats why it should i said that the hench should have the exact same skills as the person that left....and Deathlord, with the hench being put into their party instead, that would mean that the low level player would still have to lead the team to the end. As well i have noticed that enemy AI tends to go for the weakest person on the team as well as healers, those are their preset priorities, so if he charges into battle it doesnt mean he wont die, and it would be hard to be carried through a mission by lvl20 hench since you would only have so many (if you are low level then you would only have 3 or 6 hench right?)

I like the idea of a henchmen replacing a party member who drops out for whatever reason. I think they should just be stock henchmen though, giving them a whole set of different skills would be alot of work for the devs. Also, remember the Mirror Image fight...its clear AI has no clue what to do with alot of spells. I would rather not have the necro that replaces the player who dropped out sacrifice himself to death.

I played for a total of maybe 5-6 hours this weekend. Why so little? Well after trying to do the acension missions I pretty much wanted to take a bite out of my keyboard in frustration. This had nothing to do with the level of difficulty of the missions directly... it had everything to do with the quality of mannerism of players and the complete lack of trust in others to be around to finish valuable missions.

1) Trying to assemble a group to pull off these missions was in itself a mission. I have no idea how anyone can do these ascension missions with NPCs since a complete utilization of tactics is a necessity. No thanks to the lack of a tactics menu.

2) I have noted that there seems to be an influx of bonus mission/elite capture only players who, after completing the bonus or capturing their skills, leave and strand the remaining party members.

3) Some players in a group just plain leave sometimes at the very worst time (ex. right before the mission is complete). If you keep fighting and learn from your mistakes during the mission you CAN make it. Some players who keep dying do learn and CAN be reinforced by stronger members via tactical adjustments.

4) Attitudes of players are that because they have already finished the mission and want to do it again, They think they have the right to crap on other players when things either go badly or NOT THEIR way. I could slide him to ignore but that player is in the group. This game needs a kick vote.

I have some screenshots of examples of all this but since I am posting at work I dont have them for this post.

If a player leaves a group. That player should be replaced with a Clone plain and simple .

Agree with that statement 100%... often these players are bossy, rude and while they may have few good points tend to just order everyone about.

When situations start to go badly they insult the team calling the n00bs, nublets and in many cases words I cannot post here since I don't want to be banned

needless to say no matter how good or how many times you done these missons, players should have no right to insult and put down others due to their "so called" lack of mission experince.

Scum the lot of them.

I've still not really encountered many problems. I had one surreal mission where noone knew the way but two guys both wanted to lead, we had an insane rusher but no monk, and two guys dropped out, but the rest of us still finished both mission & bonus, so I can't really complain. In fact, it was hilarious, in a one-legged butt-kicking-contest kind of way, the funniest mission I've ever played.

The biggest problems I've encountered is that some players, often those who've been around since beta, have played each mission X times, and don't have patience to explain to new players what the mission is or how to achieve the goals.

I would agree that any player who doesn't take the time to explain the goals to a new player but who DO take the time to insult and put down the new player is scum, and I've supported having a /votekick function before.

Dont go off alone, use called targets, etc.

I just left a game where our only monk decided to pull a fast one. Join our group that was waiting/looking for a monk and then prodded us to go ... when we entered the mission he jumps out. He didnt even leave the game because I whispered him 'thanks alot bub!' and it didnt say he was offline.

Is this going to be a trend? Because people need to be banned for crap like this.

A couple quick observations:

1.) Quality not quantity wins the day, and the mission as well. Develop in-game friendships with people and work with them. What's the rush? The game only goes to level 20 - I've already beat you! Take your time, smell the flowers, and enjoy where you are and what you are doing.

2.) What's in a name? Everything actually.
A name is a precursor of things to come. You group up with someone named Lord of the Jedi; don't be surprised when the 15 year old has a tantrum and leaves in a huff. Doubly so for idiots with revolting or disgusting names.

3.) Taking extra time to get great people in your group = success.
Throwing together a bunch of random misfits = 95% failure in most cases. (there are always the rare few)
Would you rather spend 30 minutes assembling a team, or get 30 minutes into the mission and have them all leave in a fit of pique or otherwise immature action?

Play accordingly,

Talesin

I want to play now, not hang around and chat for any amount of time.

Not everyone has the luxury of finding "Kalim the Healer-20th Monk" when your lucky enough to have "I RoxoRZ Yu!-10th Monk/Rapper"
